Decide on the Key Features You Need

The first step in finding a Saskatoon home is to determine what exactly you need from that home. If you are looking for an apartment for just yourself, would you prefer a one-bedroom apartment with room separations or would a studio with an open floor plan suffice?  If you have multiple household members, figure out how many bedrooms you need to comfortably accommodate everybody. And what about bathrooms? Can four people share one bathroom or do you need an extra half or full bathroom to accommodate all of you?

Determining key features, you need will narrow your apartment search and have you renting in Saskatoon faster than you might think.  On top of that, which sites or landmarks do you most want to live near? Are you planning on taking classes at one of the universities or do you expect to work to work? If so, then make sure to factor location into your search as a long commute can drastically change your renting experience.

Keep What You Want

While figuring out what you need from a home may be easy, figuring out what you want (and what you can afford) can be more difficult.  Perhaps it is reasonable to want a large living room and extra storage space, but are you willing to sacrifice having a washer and dryer in your unit?  Because Saskatoon rentals are in demand, prospective tenants need to be flexible with their needs and wants if they hope to rent quickly.  First time renters, as well as those on tight timelines, are encouraged to focus on units that are within their budget and cover their essentials like the number of bedrooms, before getting caught up on what unique features and amenities one unit has over another.

Trust Your Gut

If an apartment for rent just doesn't feel right to you, even if it meets your needs and has all of what you want, do not force yourself to choose that home. Trusting your gut is important when choosing where to live. You want an apartment that feels like home, not that sets you on edge. If you have a nagging feeling that something is off, don't go for it. And if you immediately fall in love with a home, you should absolutely pursue it.  Wherever life takes you, know that you can find a home here, with us. #ApartmentLove
